SBG Securities Uganda Launches US Dollar Fixed Income Unit Trust Fund
SBG Securities Uganda has taken a significant step forward by launching a US Dollar Fixed Income Unit Trust Fund. This new offering expands the firm’s multi-currency investment options and reflects its commitment to meeting the growing demand for diversified financial products in the region.
The introduction of this dollar-denominated fund complements the company’s existing Uganda shilling (UGX) unit trust, which has experienced substantial growth in recent months. Assets under management have surged fourfold, reaching Shs540 billion as of December 2025. This impressive growth highlights the increasing confidence investors have in professionally managed and structured investment vehicles.
The decision to introduce the USD option comes at a time when the US Dollar has shown sustained strength against the Uganda shilling. This trend is influenced by global economic pressures, including geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and fluctuating energy prices. As a result, there is heightened interest among investors in diversifying their portfolios to protect returns from exchange rate volatility.
Grace Ssemakula, Chief Executive of SBG Securities Uganda, emphasized the importance of this new product during the launch. She stated that the USD Fixed Income Unit Trust Fund is designed to help investors remain resilient while taking advantage of emerging opportunities.
“The Uganda shilling remains a strong and important foundation for local investment. However, in today’s dynamic global environment, it is increasingly important for investors to diversify thoughtfully. Our USD Fixed Income Unit Trust Fund complements our Shilling offering by giving clients flexibility as they navigate their different investment needs,” she said.
The USD Fixed Income Unit Trust enables investors to hedge against currency fluctuations while still maintaining exposure to local market opportunities through shilling-denominated investments. This dual approach allows clients to balance stability and growth in uncertain economic conditions.
Ssemakula highlighted that the launch is part of a broader strategy to build a comprehensive investment portfolio tailored to evolving client needs. “We are committed to building a robust, multi-product investment suite for our clients,” she said.
The strong AUM growth recorded through December 2025 reflects the trust clients place in SBG Securities. The firm now offers both Shilling and Dollar options, with plans to expand further as it continues to innovate and meet the changing needs of Ugandan investors.
As global markets remain volatile, SBG Securities is positioning itself not only as an investment provider but also as a long-term wealth partner. The firm aims to offer guidance and stability to investors during challenging times.
“In times like these, investors need more than just access to products—they need insight, stability, and a partner they can trust. SBG Securities is committed to helping our clients make informed decisions and build resilient portfolios for the future,” Ssemakula said.
The launch aligns with the broader strategy of Stanbic Bank Uganda to deepen financial inclusion and support wealth creation. By offering tools that enable clients to preserve and grow their investments in a changing economic environment, the bank continues to play a vital role in the region’s financial landscape.
Clients can access both UGX and USD fixed income investment options through SBG Securities’ website, its physical offices, and Stanbic Bank Uganda branches nationwide.
